As member of the senior executive team at the Foundation Dave Thomsen oversees the areas of finance, human resources, communication, community relations and information technology in support of one of the largest grant making foundations in Texas. He also serves as a strategic advisor to the Chief Executive Officer in the achievement of the Foundations strategic plan to ensure that the organization will continue to flourish and deepen its impact in the communities served.
Prior to joining the Foundation, Dave served as Division Vice President of Quality for HCA’s Central and West Texas Division and St. David’s HealthCare which included 8 hospitals, 6 ambulatory surgery centers, and outpatient clinics in two markets. He was responsible for providing leadership, inspiration and alignment of strategic initiatives and tactics related to health care quality, patient safety, regulatory compliance, risk prevention and emergency management. In addition, Dave was the lead senior executive responsible for leading St. David's HealthCare's efforts in applying the criteria of the Malcolm Baldrige model for performance excellence over 10 years culminating in St. David's HealthCare being named a recipient of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award in 2014.
Dave has served as chair of the Texas Hospital Association Quality and Patient Safety Committee and as a national examiner for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award for several years. He also serves on the Boards of Texas Quality Foundation and the Williamson County Institute for Performance Excellence.
Dave holds a Masters in Healthcare Administration from Mary Hardin-Baylor University and a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration.
