Strong safety net providers are critical to community health. Providers are challenged to evolve with the changing landscape to remain an effective resource for their community. Strengthening the safety net systems’ engagement in data-driven performance improvement activities will expand their ability to better respond to changes in the health care landscape. It is our assumption that when safety net providers are stronger, they are more likely to consistently provide high quality comprehensive primary care to Central Texans.
St. David’s Foundation defines comprehensive primary care to include prevention activities, behavioral health, dental, and health promotion that has the patient at the center of care priorities and decisions. Comprehensive primary care strives to reduce fragmentation in care while building linkages to community supports and resources that foster good health.
Our goal is to strengthen the safety net to deliver comprehensive primary care to support effective and efficient services.
St. David’s Foundation will focus on strengthening the safety net in order to improve access to quality health services for Central Texans who have trouble accessing good, quality healthcare. Through our work with safety net providers, we will strengthen their infrastructure and increase patient and community engagement to facilitate the delivery of high quality health services for uninsured, underserved, unfunded and low-income Central Texans.
