St. David’s Foundation Welcomes New Dental Director
Dr. Carlos Diaz, DDS, joins the Foundation as Dental Clinical Director
St. David’s Foundation is pleased to announce Dr. Carlos Diaz, DDS, as the new Dental Clinical Director for the St. David’s Foundation Dental Program. He began his role on August 3, 2026, leading one of the largest mobile charity dental programs in the country.
As Dental Clinical Director, Dr. Diaz will provide leadership for the Dental Program, managing the clinical team, establishing and maintaining standards of care, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory and professional requirements. He will also maintain the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based, and compassionate care to the patients and communities we serve.
“We are excited to welcome Dr. Diaz to the Foundation and look forward to the leadership, experience, and passion he will bring to the Dental Program and to the patients and families we serve in our Central Texas community,” said Julian Huerta, Vice President of Community Programs at St. David’s Foundation.
Serving more than 5,500 students each year, the Dental Program brings free, high-quality dental care directly to elementary schools and community sites across Bastrop, Caldwell, Hays, Travis, and Williamson counties. Through a fleet of 10 mobile dental clinics and a dedicated team of dental professionals, the program helps remove barriers to care while promoting lifelong oral health.

Dr. Diaz brings more than 20 years of clinical and leadership experience, along with a deep commitment to expanding access to care for underserved communities. He joins us from People’s Community Clinic, a long-standing Foundation grantee and partner, where he has served as Director of Dental Services for the past seven years. In that role, he led the growth and evolution of the clinic’s dental program, helping to expand services. Previously, he served as Dental Director at Gateway Community Health Center in Laredo, Texas, and practiced as a general dentist serving communities in El Salvador, where he grew up. In El Salvador, he had the opportunity to provide dental care to children with cerebral palsy at a non-profit clinic, many of whom faced significant barriers to accessing care. That experience was incredibly meaningful and helped shape Dr. Diaz’s commitment to serving children and other underserved populations.
It showed me early in my career how much of an impact access to compassionate, quality dental care can have on a community. Children are one of our most vulnerable populations, and they depend on adults and community resources to advocate for their health. That is why the Foundation’s work resonates with me; it not only provides children with access to needed dental care but also helps prevent disease and restore their health before problems become more serious.”
