St. David’s Foundation Announces Vice President of Community Programs
Published January 7, 2022
St. David’s Foundation welcomes Julian Huerta as our new Vice President of Community Programs. Julian joins us from Foundation Communities, Central Texas’ largest nonprofit provider of affordable housing with supportive services, where he most recently served as Deputy Executive Director and led the development and implementation of health, education, and financial stability programs for more than 40,000 families. With more than 30 years of experience in program development, nonprofit administration, and fundraising, he brings a great deal of community-based knowledge, history, compassion, and commitment to our efforts in advancing health equity in our community.
In his role, Julian will develop, implement, and support the Foundation’s direct service portfolio and oversee the mobile dental program and Neal Kocurek Scholarship program – two of the largest examples of such initiatives in the country. He will also lead efforts to engage with external constituencies to help grow and support a philanthropic culture in Austin and throughout Central Texas. Julian will report to President and CEO, Edward B. Burger, Ph.D. who joined the Foundation in 2020.
Julian currently serves as chair of the Board of Directors at RAISE Texas, a statewide organization that promotes financial security and economic mobility for low- and moderate-income Texans. He also serves as a member of the Community Advisory Council for the Humanities Institute at the University of Texas at Austin. He has also completed the NeighborWorks Achieving Excellence Program at Harvard University, an 18-month executive education program for leaders in the field of community development.
In this newly created position, Julian’s experience as an innovative and bold community leader with a deep understanding of cross-sector partnerships will help us to accelerate our efforts to address the needs of those who are disproportionately impacted by systemic inequities.
“I am thrilled to join St. David’s Foundation at this pivotal time. We share a long history of working creatively and doggedly to identify and address the most pressing needs of our fast-growing region. As I embark on this next chapter, I am committed to continuing to partner with our community to remove barriers and help our residents achieve optimal health
.”
Julian joins recent hire Regan Gruber Moffitt, Vice President of Community Investments, who oversees the Foundation’s strategic grantmaking.
We invite the entire community to join us in welcoming Julian in this new role as we continue to build upon the impactful work of improving the health and well-being of our Central Texas neighbors.
