Loan Repayment Program

The St. David’s Foundation Loan Repayment Program, administered by the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA), offsets the loan repayment costs for eligible providers who commit to serving the safety net in our five-county region. The program was established in response to the demand for high-quality care providers at Central Texas safety-net clinics. We work with TDA to identify exemplary health care professionals working in safety net clinics and provide them with funds to pay back a portion of their student loan debt. Physicians, dentists, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners are eligible for the program. Through this program, we are able to ease the burden on those who make the important decision to help improve the health and health care of our community. In addition, helping the safety net clinics in Central Texas to recruit qualified staff ensures that lower income and uninsured community members have access to high-quality care. There are currently more than 50 participants in the SDFLRP practicing at safety net clinics throughout Central Texas.
