How We Fund

Annually investing more than $100 million in Central Texas with a goal of advancing health equity and addressing the needs of the communities facing the greatest health needs

As a Foundation, we are shifting our approach and culture, including our grantmaking practices, to ensure that our investments are impactful and partnerships are community-focused and equity-driven. Funding opportunities are aligned with and in service of our 2024-2030 Strategic Plan, Pathways to Health Equity. We are eager to partner with and learn from all who share a commitment to a stronger, more equitable Central Texas. 

Types of Funding Opportunities

St. David’s Foundation offers several ways to apply for grant funding depending on the goals, objectives, and initiative. Different criteria, eligibility, and deadlines apply based on the opportunity.

Open Calls

The Foundation announces funding opportunities throughout the year designed to advance health equity in Central Texas.

These funding opportunities have specific terms, eligibility criteria, deadlines, and requirements that are aligned with the goals of the opportunity.

All organizations that meet eligibility criteria and are leading work aligned with the open call – including existing grantees, as appropriate – are encouraged to apply.

Invitation-Only Funding  

For some funding opportunities and initiatives, St. David’s Foundation will engage in an invitation-only process.

Based on the funding opportunity goals and eligibility criteria, we invite organizations whose bodies of work are vital in achieving the intended impact of our strategic plan.

Invitation-only-based funding allows the Foundation to streamline our process and reduce application burden on potential grantees. Unsolicited applications will not be accepted for invitation-only funding opportunities.

Rolling Funding

Beginning in July 2025, we will be accepting year-round applications for small, one-time grants for time-sensitive and topic-specific needs that are impacting our Central Texas region and that align with our strategic work and intended impacts.

There is no deadline associated with these applications. Applications will be reviewed, and a determination will be made within one month of submission. Rolling funding opportunities may change periodically to meet the evolving needs of our community.

Sponsorships

We provide limited sponsorships to support events and communications-related projects that directly align with our strategic plan and will move the needle on the impacts we wish to see from our investments.

Looking Ahead

We will continue to develop the infrastructure to support our strategic plan as we advance our 2030 Vision for Impact. This will include continued community listening and opportunities to shape future funding and programmatic priorities.
