Catalyzing Community-Led Change

Investing in communities with the greatest health needs so they can set their own priorities and shape the practices, policies, and systems that impact their health

In May 2026, St. David’s Foundation launched the Catalyzing Community-Led Change funding opportunity, focused on investing in locally rooted networks and resident leadership as essential drivers of healthier, more connected communities across Central Texas.

These investments support the Foundation’s 2030 Impacts to increase the number and strength of locally rooted networks in communities with the greatest health needs in Central Texas and increase the number of organizations and local governments engaging community members in decision-making and leadership.

The Foundation awarded nearly $10 million to 19 Central Texas organizations that are working to strengthen locally rooted networks and build resident leadership capacity for communities to address their community-determined health and well-being priorities.

Overview

Through the Catalyzing Community-Led Change funding opportunity, the Foundation seeks to:

  • Advance community-driven health priorities by:
    • Strengthening locally rooted networks in communities with the greatest health needs in Central Texas
    • Increasing the number of individuals from historically marginalized communities trained as resident leaders.
  • Support a coordinated and connected ecosystem, or “network of networks” required for sustained, community-driven impact in health and well-being.

Over time, the Foundation’s goal is to position this cohort of grantees as an interconnected civic infrastructure capable of building community power, advancing community-determined health priorities, responding collectively to emerging challenges, and sustaining civic and democratic participation.
