Coordination of Supports

Supporting the navigation and coordination of services addressing the economic barriers affecting health and well-being.

Rising costs for housing, childcare, food, and other basic needs make it harder for many of our Central Texas neighbors, even those in the workforce, to make ends meet. Roughly one in three households in Central Texas don’t earn enough to meet their basic needs. For populations that have faced historical inequities, such as housing and job discrimination, the climb to economic self-sufficiency is even steeper. When individuals and families can’t access the support they need to build economic stability, it puts the health of individuals and communities at risk.

Addressing these gaps requires strengthening efforts to guide and connect people to resources and programs such as childcare, services for seniors, rent assistance, legal aid, or financial coaching and to the benefits that promote economic stability, including food assistance (SNAP), earned income tax credit (EITC), housing vouchers, transportation help, and other public resources. Improving coordination among community organizations is essential to making it easier for people to find and use the tools that protect their health and well-being.

Driving Impact

By 2030, St. David’s Foundation aims to maximize the federal, state, and local funding for supports addressing economic barriers to health and well-being. This starts with strengthening how community organizations work together to connect people with the services and supports they need. With stronger regionwide infrastructure to address economic barriers, more individuals can enroll and access public benefits, and organizations working to provide services can identify shared needs for public resources.

Approach

St. David’s Foundation’s approach centers on supporting service delivery, developing capacity, and leveraging resources to ensure that no one is left behind because they can’t find or afford the help they need.

We will invest in:

  • Helping individuals navigate and access supports that promote economic stability
  • Improving regional infrastructure and making systems easier to navigate
  • Growing the pool of public and private resources addressing economic barriers

Together, these investments advance our goal of improving collaboration and maximizing available funding to improve health and well-being across Central Texas.
